The 2nd Joint Meeting of LINNC
The 2nd Joint Meeting of LINNC & ACINR held in Istanbul was a successful edition with close to thousand participants. We hope to see you in Paris (Carrousel du Louvre) for the 3rd Joint Meeting on May 23 to 25, 2011.
Interventional Neuroradiology (INR) is evolving every year. Neurosurgery is an essential part of the meeting and will continue to be. It is very exciting to see how the too complementary disciplines are progressing in parallel. The technology evolves and more and more centres are getting more and more experience. On the contrary our philosophy is still the same. We want to be at the very front line of new technologies, new therapeutic indications and ethical behaviour.
During this third join meeting we are going to focus on research and brand new developments that have matured to the point where some of them are now used as routine tools either to better screen the patient before treatment or to improve the treatment itself. This is the case for flow measurement, real time approach of the qualification of blood flow and blood volume with the flat panel technology, 3D roadmap embolization of brain AVM coupled with real time matching of MR pictures, as well as new application of VASO CT® and DYNA CT®.
Vascular pathology was the main topic of the previous editions of the course. This year, live percutaneous spine treatments will be added to the vascular field with a special attention paid to the treatment of kyphotic deformity after vertebral fracture and percutaneous spine fusion. The fast growing indications and technology in spine interventional treatments has to be from now on part of the LINNC-ACINR teaching strategy.
Finally mechanical reopening of brain vessels in ischemic stroke patients, inside the 4,5 hours time frame from the onset of the attack, is now a very well established and efficient method. For the first time in the world, we will transmit live cases of brain vessels reopening in emergency. This has become possible because of the very well organised and centralised system we have in the “Ile de France – Paris” area, whose name is “SAMU”. Of course a lot of discussions will be stimulated during the last day of the course on Wednesday the may 25 where this “live stroke session” will be held.
